Anterior and posterior crowns: In the preparation of anterior and posterior teeth even reduction of the anatomic from must occur. Provide enough room to allow stable, dependable strength. Avoid sharp internal edges and angles. Avoid undercuts. Observe the form of the margin. A shoulder preparation of 1.0mm at a 90-100 degree angle must be executed. |

| EMPRESS ONLY - Inlay restorations: The enamel surfaces created by a parallel perparation are generally sufficirnt for acid etching. With flat cusps, a diverging preparation helps optimize the acid etching of the enamel.
Onlay Restorations: An onlay preparation is indicated when the preparation margin is less than 0.5mm away from the cusp tip or when the enamel is severely undermined. A cusp reduction of 2.0mm is required. Proximal: Try to provide a box form. If the oral or vestibular walls are very thin, the preparation should be flared to eliminate weak enamel margins. |
